AS A CHOREOGRAPHER...
I am inspired by shifting dynamics in musicality and movement as well as my personal journey as a female artist to convey themes of self empowerment to my dancers and audience. I am drawn to powerful performers that are eager to take risks in their craft and to absorb new ideas. I hold true that my dancers execution of the choreography should invite the audience into the piece solely through the strength of the intention used in their dancing. Therefore, I strive to immerse my dancers in an experience in which they feel inspired and willing to contribute to the creative process. In the rehearsal process, I value my dancers interpretation of my ideas and play with their strengths and mine to create work. I structure my pieces in a way that greatly develops my message of self empowerment through the impact of music, movement phrases that build on themselves, and working with dancers that are eager to contribute to the choreographic process.
